I've started this blog
in the midst of political and economic chaos. The world as we knew it is
already gone and continuing to change rapidly before our eyes. Whether
it's the wars, national debt, environment, or crumbling economic
infrastructure, something transformative is occurring in our society; perhaps
not for the better, but changing nevertheless. The critical question is
“Into what?”
The election of
President Obama has particularly piqued my interest. Though I'm as
passionate of an Obamaniac as any, I can't help but feel that much of the
fascination with the man is his difference, rather than his views. He was
the physical manifestation of this feeling I have, that something has to be
different about this election in this time. We simply cannot continue
traveling down the road we're on. It will mean departures from our
accustomed way of life. It will mean sacrifice. It will mean thinking
about life and government in very different ways. It’s neither
conservative nor liberal. It’s a fundamental shift in the way we
think. That’s why I refer to the blog as the New American Paradigm.
Paradigm
Shift: A radical change in thinking from an accepted point of view to
a new belief.
Which brings us back
to the question:
“Into what?”
That will be the
purpose of this blog, trying to answer those questions for myself and perhaps a
few others. My hope is that it's mostly post-partisan, occasionally
funny, and somewhat enlightening. It may not even be fully formed ideas,
but it’ll be something…
